Rowing
Rowing commence.d in the first week of term for all possible members of the crews.
R. Clark was elected Captain of the boats, ]. Robinson, vice-captain, and J. Natt the secretary of the Boatshed Committee.
Repairs on the boats were carried out early in the term. The speedboat was painted and varnished, and again proved a valuable asset to the training of th e crews.
Training for the prospective first and second eights began in the practice eight. Two fours were selected, and used the "Geoffrey Maxwell" and "H. R. Nash." Other members spent the after- noons improving their rowing in the pair.
The first crew consisted of three members of last year's crew (R. Clark, ]. Robinson and T. Vellard), three members (J. Natt, D. Edward and P. Finn) from the second eight, and D. Rikard-Bell and J. Cary from the four.
At the end of March the firsts changed over to the "P. C. Anderson," and a week later the seconds in'to the "Barratt-Hill."
Two weeks before the race the boats were moved to the University Boatshed to complete their training. The crews whic h represented Scotch were as follows:
First Eight: P. Finn (bow), D. Rikard-Bell (2), ]. Robinson (3), T . Wellard (4), ]. Cary (5), J. Natt (6), D. Edward (7), R. Clark (stroke), R. Black (cox).
Second Eight: G. Swift (bow), ]. Flintoff (2), G. Jenkinson (3), ]. Parkinson (4), B. Purser (5), M. Cummings (6), ]. Frayne (7), P. Nash (stroke), G. Black (cox).
Four: G. Hudson (bow), D. Barker (2), P. Stone (3), R. Bell (stroke), M. Rikard-Bell (cox). We would like to express our gratitude to NIr. G. Maxwell and Dr. H. Nash for giving up so
