The photograph was taken in 1956 and features the Public Schools Association (P.S.A.) annual Head of the River race finish, looking towards South Perth, Western Australia.
The photograph is part of a series of photographs taken by Geoffrey McMullen OSC1956. The Archive is extremely fortunate in receiving Geoffrey's remarkable collection of nostalgic photographs taken throughout the mid 1950s. The donation comprises of images of Headmaster Peter Corsar Anderson, Interschool swimming competitions held at the Crawley Baths, Public Schools Association sporting events - including Head of the River looking towards South Perth and images of the Boatshed at Freshwater Bay, Peppermint Grove.
