"Big Crowd Sees Cadets In March-Out Parade. A big crowd of parents and friends watched the combined march-out parade of the three Scotch College cadet units on Sunday.
The college is the only school with cadet units representing the three services - navy, army and 'Air Force'.
More than 200 cadets of the T. S. Cunningham, the Scotch College Army Cadet Unit, and the No. 11 Flight Air Training Corps organized by the Officer Commanding the army cadet unit, Captain A. M. W. Courtney took part.
The college pipe band formed in 1947, was a feature of the parade. It was led by drum major J. Katz and pipe major S. Longmire.
Trophies
Among the trophies presented to cadets were: D. W. Brisbane Memorial Prize for service, Cadet Sub-Lieut. R. Cross, of the T. S. Cunningham.
George Campbell Memorial Shield for interpolation competition, Cadet Under-Officer K. O. Branson on behalf of 2 Platoon.
Senator Branson Cup for the best forts-year cadet, Cadet. A. W. Stephen.
W.A. Squadron Trophy for inter-flight swimming competition, Cadet Under-Officer P. Peebles, on behalf of No. 11 Flight.
The army cadet unit was raised in 1908 and had the strength of 150 cadets.
The No. 11 Flight was formed in 1948 and the T. S. Cunningham in 1953.
The Governor, Maj. Gen. Sir Douglas Kendrew, was the reviewing officer and presented the trophies.
Official guests included Senator G. H. Branson, Brig. G. P. Hunt, Captain. L. F. Vickridge R.A.N.R., Wing-Commander T.W. Murphy and Claremont mayor A. W. Crooks".
