Assembly notes
A book entitled The Merino Past Present and Probable by H. B. Austin, published by Grahame Book Company, 39 Martin Place Sydney in 1947.
The book was awarded to David Pursar OSC by winning the Wool Classing competition in 1948 at the College. David informed us that Wool Classing classes were offered as an extra curricular activity in the 1940's to boarders after dinner at 7pm once a week and were held in the Physics laboratory in the Science Wing. A professional wool classer from the Agriculture Department would be present to teach the boys wool classing.
The book was awarded by R.S. Boyd - possibly David's wool classing teacher and signed by Principal Maxwell Keys. The book was personally donated on the 17th of January 2018 by David Pursar OSC.
