In the front page of the album it reads "To Dearest Mother With Fond Love From Will Sept 1917...Wishing her many Happy Returns of the Day".
The album is a selection of photographs taken by Will, during his time in England, whilst waiting to return to Australia after World War One. Will was injured in the war and located in a war hospital, he consequently lived and worked with his West Australian friends, while waiting for a safe passage home. The album was a birthday gift for his mother located in Perth, Western Australia.
The photograph features Bert Hill (on the left) and William (Bill) Crookston on the right. The 'Troops at Brighton' are photographed on the Brighton, UK Pier.
