A meticulously organised photography album belonging to Scotch College student and boarder James 'Jim' Alfred George Hodgson OSC1928, was kindly donated by his daughter in law Margaret Hodgson in 2020.
James known as 'Jim' Hodgson was born on the 5th of April 1911 and commenced his schooling on the 5th of February 1923 through to his leaving year, departing the College on the 17th of December 1928. Jim was originally from Yearling, Western Australia and served in the RAAF in World War Two under position 427904 LAC1.
The album covers his school life as a student and Boarder at Scotch College during the mid 1920's. Imagery of fellow students and friends in their school uniform, depictions of school buildings and grounds, life at the Boarding House, friendships made at the College and sporting activities are portrayed through the album.
A 1925 to 1928 photograph of some of Jim Hodgson's OSC1928 school friends. The Boarding students are pictured upstairs in the M-Block Building dormitory having a pillow fight. They are pictured wearing pyjamas and standing next to their beds. The photograph was most probably taken by Jim, who documented his time as a Boarder at the College.
'Jim' is related to a long line of Old Scotch Collegians including Henry Hodgson OSC1920 (Jim's Brother), William Hodgson OSC1923 (Jim's Brother), Richard Hodgson OSC1940 (Jim's Brother), Colin Hodgson OSC1955 (Jim's Son), Brian Hodgson OSC1960 (Jim's son) and Reid Hodgson OSC1986 (Jim's Grandson).
